Internal assessment IB is a project each student must complete in the last year of their IB diploma program. Much work goes into demonstrating skills learned in class over the years. This exploration can start before the last, with instructors guiding students in completing each segment of the criteria. IA is essential because it represents 20-30% of an IB student's total marks in various subjects. We cannot understate the importance of an IB internal assessment. Students should get all the IA writing help available to guarantee a good mark at the end of their diploma.
IB IAs are a perfect alternative to traditional exams and are regarded as coursework assessments or assignments. They are marked internally by teachers in an IB school and closely monitored by external examiners for the purpose of awarding max in a fair manner. Remember IB takes a holistic approach to education that goes beyond scoring marks. It encourages the application of learned skills in schools and beyond. That said, IAs encourage students to implement critical thinking, develop research skills, and become independent thinkers.
IAs differ according to specific subjects. A science IA exploration is different from that of language subjects, as explained below.
Here, AIs are considered HL essays and IB Individual Oral assessments. A HL essay is applicable for students undertaking IB higher level. HL essay is a 1200-1500 word essay exploring a literary topic. It encourages students to be independent thinkers as it seeks critical analysis in interpreting and relating to literature. Similarly, Ib Individual Oral is a 10-minute presentation where a student explores a literary text and relates it to global issues.
IAs are generally considered lengthy scientific explorations involving creating experiments to gather data and presenting findings, results, conclusions, and evaluations. This report is detailed, and students are encouraged to use charts, be creative, and develop hypotheses, among other things. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, computer science, design technology, environmental systems and societies, and Sports, exercise, and health science fall under this group.
IB Math IA Study disguised as mathematical exploration is a 12-20 page write-up illustrating a student's ability to apply mathematical concepts. Students must show personal engagement, gather data through research, and present findings. This helps students apply maths in an out-of-classroom context.
These investigations take 2000 to 2200 words, which is around 8 pages. Subjects such as economics, history, and geography fall under this category. IB History ia takes 2200 words and involves research undertakings to resolve a research question and present the findings. Geography also involves engaging in fieldwork and producing a written report. Students also have to write 3 economic commentaries (macroeconomics, microeconomics, and international trade).
IAs in art subjects are in diverse forms, such as process portfolios, performances, or even creating a director’s notebook for a play. All these spur creativity and encourage students to portray critical reflection.
Here, an AI entails a TOK Exhibition. Students must select one of the 35 IB-provided prompts or knowledge questions and relate them to their three picked objects. TOK exhibition is 950 words, and a student has to demonstrate how their chosen objects relate to a knowledge question.
